Redeeming Desolate Inheritances

Do you have a dream in your heart, a hope for something that you have set aside and allowed to be left behind? All of us have probably been there or are there. Often when we don't see the fulfillment of something right away we dismiss it rather than tarry onward until God brings it to pass. I know I have done this by chalking it up to having misheard God or lack of obedience in some area. I have spent time thinking that if I have followed better, paid more attention, been more faithful than perhaps I would have heard better and seen the fruition of what I heard.. The truth is my inheritance has nothing to do with me and everything to do with my Father in Heaven who has given it to me.

Isaiah 49:8 says "This is what the Lord says, "In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances."

What an amazing message! God not only grants us His favor through the gift of salvation, He redeems our land and our inheritance. Have you ever consider what it would be like to receive an inheritance? It is not something we earn, it is a gift freely given by the one who possesses it. In our case God freely gave us His Son so that we might enjoy relationship with Him once again. Genesis says that God came to walk in the cool of the day with Adam and Eve. He wanted to have relationship with them, that was His whole purpose for creation. He promises to give us abundant life not in the hereafter but in the here and now. I love the meaning of the word abundant. It means to have ridiculously more. John 10: 10 says "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly" Our God is a God of abundance (a God of ridiculously more!) and His sole desire is to restore and redeem inheritances that have been set aside or left behind. God is not a man that He would lie so that means if He said it He will do it. Do not be disheartened if you have not seen the fruit come forward. God's timing is perfect and He can not lie so be assured that He has ridiculously more for you!
