I just recently learned this word and I love it! The Greek translation means “It Is Finished!”  The word means more than just "I survived." It means "I did exactly what I set out to do." Jesus wasn’t just stating that his suffering was over He was speaking a declaration that He had completed what He set out to do. The debt we owed, the separation from God because of our sin, the removal of our sonship, the full restoration of all that God created in Eden with a breath. It is finished! We have been fully restored in covenant to our Father. We are a Royal Priesthood, A Holy Nation, His Kingdom representative in the earth! The enemy’s power and ability to torment us or others, to rob us of our God given inheritance is over. It is FINISHED! We mark this three day period because Jesus lived and died to say It is FINISHED! In so doing He restored all the blessings of Eden and all that heaven has to offer us! “Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:28-30)” May the amazing love of God overwhelm you and may you know the hope to which you are restored!
