Spacious Lands

The biggest battle we face as humans has been the same since the Garden of Eden. It is the foundation to every human struggle and every sin. All of these things boil down to where we place our eyes.
We see that first God gave Adam and Eve instructions not to eat of the tree and then the enemy comes along and twists what God said causing Eve to look not to God but to her own reasoning.
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”
Genesis 3:6 NKJV
The enemy has used this tactic ever since. When we keep our eyes on God He leads us into spacious lands of freedom, peace and love. However when our eyes are on circumstances or our own understanding it keeps us wandering in the desert of confusion, doubt and despair. So often we make faith harder than it really is meant to be. God’s ways aren’t always easy but they are always simple.
No matter what we are facing we have a simple choice; are we going to keep our eyes on Him or on ourselves? Are we going to believe in what He says in His word or the circumstances we are facing?
I know that this may seem like an oversimplification. It would be easy to dismiss it by saying “you don’t know what I am facing” but as I sit here this evening before my next PET Scan in this battle with stage four cancer I can assure you our choice is this simple. It is one I face every single day. Am I going to choose to believe medical statistics or am I going to keep my eyes on Jesus and what He says? I choose Jesus, my Rock and my Deliverer. I keep my eyes lifted to Him and His word and because of that I live in spacious lands flowing with blessings where I get to walk in fellowship with the God of Heaven and Earth, King of the Universe and the One whose name is above all names, including cancer.
What will you choose?
