Every Single Time

Today I was once again reminded that when God says something He means it every single time. Last Fall I had some poor repair work done on my back deck and the result was creating a much bigger problem. The water from rain would stand on the surface every time it rained until it evaporated. Having standing water was causing wood to rot. I didn’t have the funds to fix it and was honestly just stumped on what to do. The people who worked on it just screwed down cheap plywood over the previously existing deck. The sheets of plywood were already cracked from the beginning and all the water was creating more cracks and rot. I wasn’t sure how much would need replacing.

I had avoided sitting out there because it was a problem growing worse and staring me in the face. As the summer passed I started stressing about the situation. It dawned on me that if I had any hope of the previous deck not being unsafe due to rot I had to do something before winter when all the snow and ice would make the rot even worse. I checked on prices to get it fixed and it seemed it was from $3,000 to $5,000. Money I absolutely did not have as I am on disability while I am fighting cancer.

I reached out to my church to see if there was anyone who could help me find even a temporary solution before winter. I got a call yesterday from a wonderful couple asking if they could come and look at the situation. When they came I explained the problem and then they said can we come back tomorrow and fix it?

They came today, unbolted the gazebo from my deck, stripped off all the plywood, made sure no screws remained where someone could step on them, checked all the boards that were under the plywood from the original deck, replaced the gazebo and they offered to come back and stain the wood whenever I was ready to do so. They even hauled away all the plywood. The problem was completely solved!

They were literally God’s provision and love to me. I hadn’t realized how much the situation was bothering me until today. I found myself crying in gratitude for new friends who love like Jesus and came alongside to remove this hurdle.

We had never met before Saturday and yet they stepped in to be His hands and feet. I not only got my deck problem resolved but ended up with several new friends who are beyond wonderful.

As I have been on the battlefield of stage four cancer I have seen over and over that when God says something He will absolutely do it! When I first got sick I was at such a point of total exhaustion that I just couldn’t find strength to fight. I had no idea how to face the battle ahead. God spoke to my heart and said “Your job is to rest and I will take care of everything that pertains to you.” He truly has done exactly that!

So many people have contributed to His care of me and it is absolutely humbling and overwhelming to experience His love at every hurdle and every victory. God is always faithful to His word! I am living proof. He spoke in the beginning of this battle and His promises have been fulfilled over and over again.

Your battle may not be cancer but we all have times of trial where we struggle but I write this to share that God’s love is absolute and will never end. His word will never fail! When He says I love you He means it every single time!

It’s nothing to do with who I am or anything I bring to the table because when I was at absolute zero He showed up. It’s all about who He is. He loves people by choice not because we have earned it or do “enough “ or any other reason. He loves because He chooses to. Whatever you are facing please know that when you hear Jesus loves you and that He will never forsake you…He means it every single time.
