A Light In The Darkness

I have been pondering lately how the words we speak impact our circumstances and those around us. Both science and faith align on the power of the spoken word. In an article on the Huffington Post Yehuda Berg states “"Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.” Proverbs‬ ‭18:21‬ ‭states that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” So often we can go through our days not realizing the power that resides within us. We can face challenges and trials as if we had no power to impact them. The truth is we have tremendous power to impact not only our circumstances but those around us! The power of blessing and truth is something that we have been given. In hard times it can seem like darkness surrounds around us and to overcome it seems virtually impossible. It’s as if we feel we need to travel through the darkness in search of light but the truth is we have the ability to initiate light by speaking truth and blessings into the situation. It only takes a spark for a flame to catch and to push the darkness away. Similarly it only takes a word to impact a situation or another person. Let’s remember to be a candle in the darkness, to bring light instead of being overwhelmed by the darkness. ‭‭
