Have you ever considered the influence you can have in your daily life? God has placed you within a sphere of influence for a reason. Yes, to share His love but God also wants to give us strategic wisdom to impact the world around us. God designed it this way from the beginning;
“Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads.”
Genesis 2:10 NKJV
God’s intention was that the blessings of Eden would flow out to the world and that Adam and Eve would steward it. He still desires that and since Jesus has paid the price to restore the possibility of relationship with God all the original blessings of Eden can be ours through salvation.
So how do we steward what we have been given? The best thing we can do is inquire of God for wisdom and direction. We don’t have to know the answer because He already does. When we are faced with problems that are too great or that we can’t see our way around He already knows the path to take. If you read through the Bible over and over we see this truth. Moses sought God and because of it he led the Israelites to freedom. David inquired of God and because of it he emerged from the cave of Adullum and led an army of mighty men. My favorite example of this is the story of Joseph. Joseph went through a lot in order for God to bring him to the place were He wanted him. All that Joseph went through was to prepare him and build his relationship with God so that he knew how to inquire of God. This prepared him to explain Pharaoh’s dream and positioned him to lead Egypt and surrounding countries through a great famine.
“Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt.”

None of this happened because of special skills that Moses, David or Joseph had, it happened because they sought the Lord and obeyed the direction and wisdom He gave them. We can often feel like there is little we can do to impact such major events but God can impact them and He calls us to be His representatives on the earth. The key is inquiring of God for circumstances in our life and being available to allow God to position us.
