Did you know that your life is not about you?
We were made in God’s image so let’s consider how God acts toward man. He did not create man as slaves but as dearly loved children. He is a giving God, taking action, making decisions for the betterment of man. Are we reflecting His image? If we are than the same applies for us; our lives and actions should be about others. We should be other focused. Life has a way of drawing our eyes and heart to focus on us, on achieving something in our life as a measure of success. The truth is the most successful people are those who reflect His love to others.
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Galatians 5:13 NKJV
This isn’t meant to be a guilt trip but rather a reminder that God knew in order for us to truly be happy and fulfilled we have to live for others and not for ourselves.
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
John 15:10-12 NKJV
“But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”
Hebrews 13:16 NKJV
We can all too easily trust in things to make us content; possessions, societal norms, comfort zones etc. We were designed to be aligned with God’s nature so that He can live through us and ransom people who are lost and hurting. The enemy subtly lures us to change our focus or to limit it because He knows when we align with God’s purpose and we reflect His nature of love we are unstoppable.
