Let There Be Light!

Have you ever wondered about the moment when God spoke this phrase? It must have been quite an event! God began creation by hovering over the earth that was formless and void. So we know a dramatic shift took place when He began to speak! I have only in the past few years begun to appreciate the amazing experience of Genesis. For example I love to picture this immense world covered and shrouded in absolute darkness just as God utters these amazing words. There has been scientific studies that have pointed into the heart of an atom that reveal within the electron there is a resonating sound wave. When I learned that something clicked in my spirit that when God uttered these words sound waves were spoken into the earth carrying the very voice and power of God. He spoke and there was light! Today as I sat enjoying the sunshine I was reminded that every atom that makes up the light originated from His voice. This is the power of His kingdom.

Now for the second piece of great news! We are made in His image and He has called us to establish His kingdom in the earth. So if we are aligned with what He has said about who we are (sons and daughters, kings and priests) then it is our duty to speak things into the earth just like He did. Because we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us those decrees carry power to effect change!

How often are you overwhelmed by what you see in the media? How often are you downcast by things you see in society? Keep in mind we live in a lost world and there is no limit to depravity unless people experience the living God. We are called to establish His kingdom. Just as He spoke in the garden so we are called to birth things in the earth. If you see something that wrenches your heart happening pray and declare God’s truth over that circumstance. Our battlefield is the heavens and our war is prayer! The Bible tells us we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities. Be encouraged! We are not powerless to affect change! Just as God spoke “Let there be light!”; and a powerful shift took place so we too can make declarations and see the world shift.

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭

Over and over in Scripture we are told that God will hear our prayers and that we have been given authority as His sons and daughters. Let’s take to our battlefield and go to war through our position and identity as His children and free our world from those things the enemy has brought to destroy people’s lives and to bring separation between them and the God who loves them. “Let there be light!”
