Loose Your Voice

I have been contemplating the power of God shown in Genesis. We know from the Scripture that God is all powerful but what I find interesting is that He chose the modality of speech when He made all of creation. Over and over in Genesis we see that He spoke things into being.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So what has been stirring my spirit is of all the power He has why choose speech? I believe that He was setting an example for us. If we are made in His image it is feasible that He wanted us to know the power of our voice. There is much discussion among scientists about the impact of talking to plants and how that impacts their growth. I know it can seem silly, the idea of talking to plants, but I believe there is power when we loose our voice in the earth.

Of course we all see how a kind word can impact a person emotionally and conversely how negative speech can have the opposite effect.  So how do we learn the lesson that God shows us in Genesis. How do we loose our voice to impact not only the people around us but also the circumstances and the very earth?

The National Library of Medicine did a study that revealed scientific evidence of four major impacts of sound on plant life particularly the frequency of speech.

Sound improves plant growth by impacting plant growth hormones and gives an improved immune system response against environmental pathogens

They have also noted structural changes in plants where roots have reached toward the source of sound.

Improved drought tolerance also has been noted by sound changing the elasticity and flexibility of the cell wall, which affects the ability of plants to absorb water.

There have also been studies done proving that each person’s voice is unique to them, as much if not more than a fingerprint. Even identical twins have been proven to have unique voice patterns. So as I have pondered all of this what comes to me is that each person born has something uniquely specific to them that needs to be released into the earth by speaking. Many Scriptures refer to the power of our words such as:

““Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Proverbs 18:21

Just as God spoke and the world was created I believe when we speak His Word into the earth we will see changes. I base this on many examples but one such example is when Jesus cursed the fig tree and it withered. Jesus knew the power of His words and when He applied them change was seen.

Romans 8:19-21 says,

“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”

‭‭

There is power that all of creation is waiting for and that we can release into the earth by standing in our identity given to us by the sacrifice of Jesus at the cross. What will happen if we loose our voice and speak His truth?
