I was recently reading about how the Levitical priesthood began. What was interesting to me was how specific it was in detail about how each person was brought forward and specific clothing was put on each individual. Levi’s clothing did not match his sons. God spoke to my heart and reminded that we each have a specific place to which we are appointed but we are all still in the same priesthood.
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”
I Peter 2:9-10 NKJV
I doubt that any of those people appointed to the priesthood felt qualified or prepared; to be established in such a role before the people that they were going to impact had to be daunting to say the least. Their priestly appointment had nothing to do with who they are or what they thought they were capable of; it had to do with obeying what God said. I believe we are living in a time when the church is being asked to step up and to allow God to establish each one of us in places of influence. He is calling His church to rise up and be a source of blessing to the earth. There are so many lost and hurting people who need to be told that there is a God who loves them. We are being called to accept these priestly appointments so God can change the world. Will you accept the royal priestly robes that He has made specifically for you? Will you set aside any concerns about the responsibility this role comes with? Will you take your eyes off yourself and lift them to the One who will give you everything you need for your appointment in His royal priesthood? Will you be a source of Kingdom blessing for the earth? I encourage all of us to lift our eyes to Him and stand in awe of what He will do in and through us because of His unending love.
