Unexpected Events

Normally when I write these posts I start of with the writing part and then once I have written I find a suitable photo to go with it, something that captures the idea of the article. This week I ran across this picture and felt like I was supposed to use it but I had no article to go with it. True to His gracious nature as I was on my way to church this morning the Lord started to speak.

I am sure that I am the only one who has experienced this but I will ask anyway :). Have you ever had one of those times when everything seems to go completely different than you planned? Not bad necessarily, just odd? Its almost as if events are happening from a different perspective. That was this past week for me. It wasn't a bad week just different. It was as if every event was happening at a slightly different angle than I expected. Things I had on my radar for the week didn't happen and things that did happen were most certainly not on my radar. My best laid plans went right out the window and it was clear that I was just supposed to lean on Him and not my own understanding. Did I mention that it was also an AWESOME week? I am so grateful for the way He maneuvers in and through our lives in ways we cannot even imagine.

Sort of like the picture of this tree. When you think of a tree falling you think of it being dead, lacking life. However, God was just re-positioning it so he could do something unique and amazing! This tree is in a place called the Tree of Mysteries in California and it is named The Candelabra Tree. Only God can take something that grows perpendicular, knock it down to a horizontal position, disrupt its roots, life and health and yet spring multiple trees from it. Only He can take something that looks lost and make something new spring forth!

When I look back at my life in recent months I stand in awe at how much God has done. Truly amazing things! Did I know they were coming? Nope. Did it shake of my plans or thoughts of what I needed to do? Yep. Would I change any of it? Absolutely not! When we have our identity anchored in Him we can walk freely in these times. We don't need to stress, or carry anxiety about the future because we know that He will be with us. He will take the events of our lives, no matter how twisted and turned they may be, and make something amazing and unique!
