With all the news about the Coronavirus I wanted to remind us this week that the Bible says not to fear 365 times; that is once a day. What an amazing God that He would know we would need that daily reminder that we don’t have to walk in fear. The media right now is blasting a constant barrage at us of things we should be afraid of but God says “Do not fear”. In a time when we see negative reports and panic around us we can be at peace and know that we don’t need to let our circumstances or events playing out in the media drive us.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.””
Joshua 1:9 NKJV
We need to remember that even in the midst of trying times God is with us. He tells us in Hebrews 13:5 that He will never leave us not forsake us. We never have to face trials alone or in our own strength. Right now everywhere we look we see our neighbors swamped by fear. We are to be the light of truth to those struggling in the darkness. The enemy would love to see us isolated and afraid. When times like this hit we often react in fear because of the events that surround us but God never promised that we would not have trials. In fact He tells us just the opposite “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.””
John 16:33 NKJV
We can have peace and joy even in the midst of hard times. As believers we have a wealth of joy that we can access that has nothing to do with this world or what is happening. It is our job to show that to those around us.
It is a time for us to rise up and be the church, to walk worthy of our calling and to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Let’s live opposite of the world where we see chaos and fear running rampant. Instead let’s speak His word and decree His love and authority over circumstances that the enemy would try to use to destroy us. BE NOT AFRAID!
