One Small Comma, One Huge Victory

We all have times when the enemy comes against our lives and it can be hard to find our way through. Very soon I will be marking year two of this cancer battle. I praise God for His presence in this war, for He truly carries me across the battlefield!

Recently I have been pondering the verse below and I realized I had been reading this wrong for many years. I have always read it “when the enemy comes in like a flood”. Making my focus on how the enemy is approaching and therefore ascribing power to how he is coming against me. However God drew my attention to something that shifted everything dramatically! If you read it carefully it says “when the enemy comes,”. God was telling us that the enemy will come but the Spirit of the Lord is what will come in like a flood! That small simple comma changes everything!

We don’t need to fear how aggressively the enemy comes because God has already won. He has already set the standard of victory and the Holy Spirit rushes in to wash away any attempt by the enemy to come against us! It also means that God fights our battles if we stand in relationship to Him. The verse doesn’t say we have to raise up a standard, it says the Holy Spirit will do it. Our job is to stand in God’s victorious gift of salvation and sonship!

“So shall they fear The name of the Lord from west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭59:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If you are in the battle just know that it is already won and the flood is coming! The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against your enemy!

I can’t speak for other cancer warriors but I think the enemy often tries to make us feel invisible. This war is a series of battles stretched over a long time. In my case, according to medical expert
