Unexpected Moments

So often our life runs in patterns and paces. Our time runs faster than we can keep up and we have more to do or more on our mind than we can possibly tackle. These patterns and paces can create such a whirlwind that we miss unexpected moments.

Today I had plans to go to the pool but God had plans to make pool exercise into pool therapy. When we arrived I noticed a woman we had seen in passing before but hadn’t had much chance to greet her until today. As I got in the pool we exchanged greetings and God opened a beautiful unexpected moment. As we conversed I felt led to ask of if I could pray for her. She was a Christian but she was in a physical struggle and I could certainly relate to that though it was a different health battle. My heart was stirred to pray so I did a radical thing. I asked if I could pray for her. I am so glad I listened to the Holy Spirit and set aside my focus of exercising!! We had an amazing encounter with God standing in the pool. He spoke, we listened and both walked away blessed. When we finished praying I opened my eyes to see tears in hers. She thanked me and gave me a huge hug and said you don’t know how much I needed that. Then I had tears in my eyes!!

Ministry is being available to the unexpected moments that God brings our way. It isn’t about a program we build, an event we produce or something we create its about listening for His voice to say “that one, pray for her”.  Because of an unexpected moment I walked away blessed and so did she and God even gave me time to get my workout done.
